Madleen Barhoum
VP Student Wellness Candidate
As Vice President of Student Wellness, I want to create a science community where wellbeing is woven into everything we do. University life moves quickly, and in the middle of deadlines, labs, and commitments, it is easy for wellness to become an afterthought. I believe it should be a priority.
My vision begins with connection. We have access to incredible mental health groups and resources on campus, yet many students are not fully aware of them or do not know how to access them. I want to strengthen communication so that support feels visible, approachable, and integrated into student life rather than separate from it.
Building on that foundation, I plan to introduce monthly wellness initiatives that students genuinely look forward to. These events will go beyond simple stress relief. They will create spaces for conversation, community, and personal growth, especially during high-pressure times of the semester.
Wellness also grows through purpose. Through Science Serves, I hope to expand meaningful volunteer opportunities each semester that allow students to give back while strengthening our collective sense of impact and belonging.
Finally, I want to cultivate strong leadership within our Society. By supporting thoughtful recruitment and training of SciSquad members and ensuring our awards process is organized and transparent, we can celebrate achievement while building a team that reflects our values.
My goal is simple. A Science Society where students do not just get through university, but truly thrive within it.
