Marco Oliverio
President Candidate
My platform is simple: students come first. The Science Society exists to support science students, and my goal as President is to ensure every student feels informed, represented, and part of a strong community within our faculty.
A major focus of my term will be improving access to student opportunities, especially the Student Opportunity Fund. Many students don’t realize that funding is available to help attend conferences, present research, and support academic development. I want to change that by making opportunities easier to find, easier to understand, and more accessible to all science students.
I am also committed to transparency. Students deserve to know where their levy money goes. I will work toward clear budget breakdowns and regular updates so students can see how their contributions directly support events, initiatives, and advocacy.
Student advocacy will be strengthened by working directly with the new VP Student Advocacy position, including accessible office hours and open communication. As university life continues to change, especially with evolving technology and academic policies, student voices should always remain at the center of decisions.
To build a stronger sense of community, I will support student-driven events, expand office hour accessibility, and also introduce new events focused on career oppurtunites and life beyond university. I also plan to strengthen the MySci Mentorship Program by improving mentor–mentee engagement and hosting a MySci event each semester.
Together, we can build a Science Society that is transparent, inclusive, and fun to be a part of.
